Anne Hunt Kincaid died Friday, May 29, 2026. A lifelong resident of Hampton, Anne was a 1947 graduate of Hampton High School. She worked for many years as a secretary at Captain John Smith, Moton, and Asbury Elementary Schools, retiring in 1989. She and her husband, George, loved square dancing and travelled all over the state to dance. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafts and was a member of a book club with her goal being to read one book a week which she did regularly. She enjoyed collecting postcards and antiques, but she was happiest when she was gathered with all her family.
Anne was a longtime member of East Hampton United Methodist Church until its closing, then became a member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by her parents, H. Rooks and Estelle J. Hunt, and her husband, Ernest Ackley “George” Kincaid; survivors include her sons, Mark Kincaid and wife, Cheryl, Brian Kincaid and wife, Brenda, and Benjamin Kincaid; her grandchildren, Lisa Frankenfield and husband, Brian, Travis Kincaid, Jennifer Morris, and Jesse Kincaid; four great-grandchildren, Logan and Landon Morris and Riley and Grace Frankenfield; and her sister, Nancy H. Basford and husband, Bob.
The family would like to thank everyone in the neighborhood who performed acts of kindness for Anne since George’s passing, and Elsie Aldridge as a caregiver and friend.
The family will receive friends from 1-2pm, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2pm. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Methodist Church, 99 E. Mercury Blvd., Hampton, VA 23669.
