Obituary

Anne Ruggles Curfman, lifelong resident of Hampton, passed away on August 28, 2015. She was born July 8, 1930 to Harold and Ruth Ruggles. She graduated from Hampton High School and Mary Washington College. She was married to Howard J. Curfman, Jr. for 63 years. A lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, Anne was actively involved in many areas including: being an Elder, Deacon, choir member, working with missions as well as children and youth ministries. She was also involved with the City of Hampton Welfare Department, Charles Taylor Library, Peninsula ASPCA, The Red Cross, Hampton Sewing Group and PEO Chapter A. Anne held a special place in her heart for her beloved New Hampshire, Mt Ascutney and her extended family there. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Russell, his wife Katherine, Robert and Richard, and grandson Christopher. Anne is survived by her husband and children and their spouses: Larry and Cathy, Stephanie, Mark and Sarah, Martha and George and Stephen and Patti; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Ruggles and Martha Ruggles and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 5 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the church Common Area. Expressions of sympathy may be made to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund. Arrangements by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
