Obituary

Anne Redd Ames passed away January 31, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband, H. Wilson Ames, her son, Thomas Bridge Ames, her parents, Lucille and Joseph Redd, and her brother, Joseph Tyler Redd. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sallie Ames Reese (Thomas) of Richmond; her son, Bill Ames (Kathleen) of Hampton; her four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine, Tyler, and Leslie; and two great-grandchildren.

Anne was born in Richmond on March 8, 1919. She moved to Hampton during World War II, where she met and married Wilson Ames. They lived and raised their family in the Wythe area of Hampton. She retired as a legal secretary for the law firm of Lacy Scoggin. Anne was very active in the Wythe Women's Club.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Commonwealth Assisted Living for the loving care they gave Anne over the last several months.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:30 PM Friday, February 7, 2014 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
