Anna Baumgardner Babb Bittner, 90, passed peacefully from this life to be with her Maker on February 8, 2026.

Anna was born on September 22, 1935, at Fort Monroe and grew up in Phoebus, a place she always held close to her heart. Throughout her life, she was deeply involved in her community. She was a past member of the Phoebus Junior Women's Club, the Warwick Moose Lodge, and the Ladies of the Elks #366. She was also a devoted member of Central United Methodist Church.

Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Theodore J. Bittner; her two brothers, Charles Baumgardner and Robert Baumgardner;  her sister, Peggy Baumgardner Pirhala and Warner Bass, a loving partner for over 30 years.

She leaves behind her greatest joy and purpose in life—her children. She is survived by her son, George Babb and his wife Gail of Opelika, Alabama, and her daughter, Karen Babb of Newport News. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Ryan Hill and Kellie Rivers (husband Eric), and her great-grandchildren, Joseph Brooks (wife Krissi), Haylie Brooks Hoggard (husband Michael) and Kellin Rivers; and her sister, Fran Hewitt; and several special nieces and nephews.

Anna will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her strong faith, and her quiet strength. Her love and legacy will live on through the generations she leaves behind.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 11 AM - 12 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, downtown Hampton.  A funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at Hampton National Cemetery, Hampton.
