Obituary

Ann Johnson Behm, age­­ 95, of Hampton, died July 18, 2021, after a short illness surrounded by family who she dearly loved.

Ann Johnson Behm was born August 26, 1925, in Hampton, to Henry Christopher and Mamie Lee Biscoe Johnson.  She graduated from Hampton High School, Class of 1943.  She married Irving Vincent Behm, DDS on June 7, 1947.

She grew up with two brothers, Bob and Henry Jr. in the Fox Hill section of Hampton.  Her family worked as commercial fishermen, seafood brokers and owned a general store in Fox Hill.  She spent many wonderful summers at her Uncle "Buttons" farm in Fredericksburg Va. riding horses and enjoying the temperate summers.  Ann attended Mary Washington College. She lived in the same home she was born and raised in for a total of 71 years enjoying gardening and sewing. Her sewing, needle work and knitting were beautiful and highly decorative.  She created a christening gown worn by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ann was a member of Central Methodist Church in Hampton, Merrimac Garden Club, Fox Hill Historical Society, and many different sewing and bridge groups.

She is survived by her two children, Cynthia Behm Halliday of Williamsburg, I. Vincent Behm Jr (Amy) of Hampton,; four grandchildren, David Halliday (Elizabeth), Irving Behm III-Tripp (Becca), William Halliday (Emily), Christopher Behm (Christine); great grandchildren, Irving Vincent Behm IV, Sebastian Gordon Halliday, Cora Rose Behm, Christopher Harlan Behm, Jr., Andrew Wilson Halliday and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers.

A graveside service will be held at Clark Cemetery, 131 Beach Rd., Hampton at 3:00pm Friday July 23, 2021 by Pastor Charles Winner.  Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to Clark Cemetery, 9 Riding Path, Hampton, VA 23669 or Central Methodist Church, 227 Chapel St, Hampton, VA 23669.
