Obituary

Angie (Angeliki) Peters Kilopoulos, passed away on February 20, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born in Kardamyla Chios, Greece on February 3, 1937 and has been a resident of Peninsula since March 6, 1959.

Angie was brought to a Newport News Hospital for outpatient surgery, an operation that would take no more than 45 minutes as described her surgeon. This operation hospitalized her four months in the intensive care unit. Due to the lengthy unexpected procedure that took place, she is no longer with us.

She did not have the opportunity to be educated due to the events of World War II. And because of that, she wanted her two grandchildren, Peter (Panagiotis) Andrew Call and Christina Angeliki Call, to be highly educated. That was her dream. While she did not get to see her dream come true, their education target will be continued.

As a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Newport News, she was a member of the Daughters of Penelope, Philoptochos Society and Golden Hearts Society.

Angie was a good mother, grandmother and wife. She was always at the side of her husband Peter, with every undertaking. She is also survived by her daughter, Maria Kilopoulos Call and her husband, whom Angie loved as her own son, Andrew; grandchildren, Peter and Christina; and sisters, Pari Kromidas of Vancouver BC and Vasso Mavrianos of Annavisos, Greece;

A Trisagion Service will be 7:00 PM Thursday at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Church. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Church by Rev. George Chioros. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.

The family wishes expressions of sympathy to take the form of contributions toward the Renovation Fund of the interior, of the Hellenic Community Center, c/o Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 60 Traverse Rd., Newport News, VA 23606.
