Obituary

Alvin Dean Coffey III, 61 of Yorktown, Virginia passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.

Alvin was born and raised in Hampton, Virginia. He graduated from Phoebus High School. He was known to most as Dean or Deno. Dean held many jobs until injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident at the age of 28 changed his life. By the grace of God, he survived and relearned life skills through hard work and determination. He loved watching NASCAR, football, baseball, and Everybody Loves Raymond. Dean loved his Dallas Cowboys and Dale Earnhardt Jr.! He loved his family, and he will be missed forever. Dean had a big heart and an even bigger mouth – he was loved for both. We know that God uses his strongest warriors to fight his toughest battles. Dean was a warrior and witnessing him battle has changed our lives forever.

Dean was preceded in death by his dad, Alvin Dean Coffey Jr. Left to Cherish his memory is his loving mother Vivian M. Coffey (Ron Minton). Sisters Adair Sullivan (Steve), and Paula Samuels (David). Nephews David Samuels and Daniel Samuels (Rachel). Niece Danielle Colter (Tim). Two great nieces Lilah and Laine and one great nephew Lawson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 2174.

To celebrate Dean's memory, we will be having a celebration of life on Sunday, October 13 from 3-6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 25 located at 7609 Marshall Avenue, Newport News, Virginia, 23605.  As we know, Dean loved the Dallas Cowboys, so please come dressed in Dallas gear or your favorite sports team!
