Alice Carney Smith, 86, widow of Garold W. Smith, died Monday, June 15, 2015. Born on Gwynn's Island she had been a Hampton resident since 1947 and was a member of Hampton Roads Baptist Church. She worked at C&P Telephone Co. from 1946-1964. Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Joy Taylor; sons, Sam Smith and wife, Peggy Ann, Tony Smith and wife Mary; sister, Rose R. Sutherland; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, from 9:30-10:30 AM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM, Friday, June 19, 2015 at Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens.
